It's here! This week sees the release of Madden 25, the latest installment of the popular NFL video game series, with the game's early release now underway.
This year is the first time since 2013 that the new version of Madden NFL will have a companion college football game from EA Sports. College Football 25 had its wide release July 19, and soon gamers will be able to move the players they created in the NCAA game into the pros with Madden 25.
Orlando-based EA Sports has been providing updates and deep dives into the new features in the game. On Tuesday, it explained the changes to Superstar mode, which lets you create your own player and play through every aspect of his career. Last week, it shared its updated Franchise mode and game presentations, as well as the new Madden ratings for each player in the NFL. The famed 99 Club has five members to start the season, including Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill.

When does Madden 25 come out? When is the release date?
Madden 25 has its worldwide release on Friday, August 16. Those who preorder the Deluxe Edition or who ordered the MVP Bundle have access Tuesday, August 13.
What is different in Madden 25?
Here's a quick look at the changes to Madden 25:
- Boom Tech: an updated tackling system that makes tackling feel more like it does in the real world.
- Redesigned NFL Draft Night in Franchise mode with drafted players shaking hands with Commissioner Roger Goodell and wearing suits.
- Import up to 32 teams from Team Builder into Franchise mode and download other users' created teams.
- Team and rookie records are now able to be broken in Franchise mode.
- Signature styles: player animations and play styles more closely resemble those of the real-world athletes.
- Pass-block mechanics that let players see which defenders their linemen are targeting pre-snap and adjust the blocking scheme.
- New announcing teams: Mike Tirico, Greg Olsen, Kate Scott and Brock Huard join Brandon Gaudin and Charles Davis.
Will Madden 25 have Superstar mode?
Superstar mode, which lets players create their own NFL athlete and build him up to an MVP and Hall of Famer, is back with Madden 25. Players in Superstar mode can earn rewards in live and seasonal events.
Here are some of the new Superstar features in Madden 25:
- Preset archetypes and new NFL Combine mini-games in Superstar mode.
- Superstar mode quests depend more on the individual teams and players.
- More Superstar events: Ochocinco Celebration Event awards points for each yard gained while celebrating, and Season of Boom gives points for every successful hit stick.
Will Madden 25 have tattoos?
Players created in Superstar mode will have a selection of tattoos available. The game includes more than 80 player and coach likenesses and dozens more head updates to custom players, including 10 new female coach heads to choose from.
Can I bring players from EA College Football 25 to Madden 25?
Yes, player import is back with the return of EA Sports' NCAA football franchise. Players created in Road to Glory can be imported into Superstar mode in Madden 25. The player will get more creation points than standard if he's brought over from College Football 25.
Will Madden 25 be on mobile?
Madden 25 Mobile is a free phone version of the game. Its expected release date is Thursday, August 8.
What console is Madden 25 on?
Madden 25 will be available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. All features of Madden 25 will be available on only the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
