I am a huge fan of any smoothie recipe that includes peanut butter. When I was making this smoothie, all I could think about is how this tasted like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!

This Strawberry Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie is super refreshing and easy to make, you only need 5 ingredients and 5 minutes to make it! You can add protein powder to make this a high-protein smoothie as well.

If you love peanut butter smoothies, you have to try my salted chocolate peanut butter smoothie!

Why You'll Love this Strawberry Peanut Butter Smoothie

  • It's super easy to make and can be whipped up in no time at all. I'm all about easy when it comes to smoothies.
  • It's delicious and tastes like you're drinking dessert, no lie! You will forget that this smoothie is healthy as soon as you take a sip.
  • You can add protein powder to make this a well-balanced meal- I like to add a scoop of vanilla protein and drink this for lunch.
  • You can add a veggie like spinach or riced cauliflower to get some extra vitamins in, and they won't affect the taste of the smoothie.

Recipe Ingredients

Here are some notes on ingredients- see the full ingredient list for measurements in the recipe card below!

  • peanut butter- I used creamy natural peanut butter, but really any peanut butter works in this recipe. Feel free to use more or less peanut butter than the recipe calls for!
  • banana- frozen banana in smoothies is a serious game-changer. I buy a bundle of bananas, peel them, and stick them in the freezer to have on hand for whenever I make smoothies!
  • strawberry- I bought frozen strawberries from my grocery store, but fresh work too!
  • milk- I always use almond milk because that is what I enjoy drinking, but you can use any milk you enjoy.
  • yogurt- I like to use non-fat greek yogurt (either vanilla or plain) in my smoothies because it adds a nice boost of protein while making them creamy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is peanut butter good for you in smoothies?

Yes! Peanut butter is a great source of healthy fats and protein so adding it to your smoothie is always beneficial. I like to buy peanut butter that is just peanuts and salt, with no added sweeteners or ingredients.

How do you make a smoothie thicker?

Frozen bananas/fruit is the key to a thick and creamy smoothie. If you accidentally put too much liquid in your smoothie, I like to add more frozen fruit or a handful of ice cubes to thicken it back up.

Can I add protein powder?

Absolutely! I always add protein powder to my smoothies. Add a scoop and blend and then adjust if you need to add a little more milk to your smoothie.

Tips and Tricks

  • Get yourself a goodblender- I've hadthis blenderfor years now and love it. You don't need a super fancy or expensive blender, just one that will get everything blended together nicely.
  • If possible, always use frozen fruit for smoothies. It makes your smoothies so much creamier!
  • Customize your smoothie- add your favorite protein powder, add a veggie like spinach or riced cauliflower (promise you can't taste it), or toss in more sweeteners like honey or maple syrup if you want your smoothie extra sweet. You could also swap the strawberries for raspberries or blueberries.
  • If your smoothie is too thick, add more milk (or water). If your smoothie gets too thin, I blend in a couple of ice cubes (or add extra frozen fruit) to thicken it back up.

Storing & Freezing

If you are not planning on drinking this smoothie right away, it can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 2 days. I recommend mixing it up before drinking it.
